Jack Quehl Foundation Celebrates Best Documentary Win

Don’t Lose Your Jack, a documentary short film produced by the Jack Quehl Foundation and directed by Joseph Porter, Innovatory Films, was awarded Best Documentary at the second annual Loveland Shorts Film Festival in Loveland, Ohio, on August 3, 2205.

The documentary, as told through interviews with Jack’s friends, shares the story of the seemingly ordinary Sunday that set Jack Quehl on a fatal collision course with fentanyl, America’s deadliest street drug, and how his death became a rallying cry to save countless other “Jacks.”

Don’t Lose Your Jack screened to a packed house as part of the Loveland Shorts Film Festival’s Saturday Night Showcase lineup with filmmaker Joseph Porter, Jack Quehl Foundation founders Stephanie and Tom Quehl, and many of their friends and supporters in attendance. At a Q&A following the screening, filmmaker Joseph Porter said, “This film encapsulates Jack’s story and the message the Jack Quehl Foundation is trying to get out there. A lot of good has come from it, and we were happy to be a part of it.”

When the film festival awards were announced the following morning, the Jack Quehl Foundation was thrilled to learn that Don’t Lose Your Jack had been given the Best Documentary Award. Stephanie Quehl said, “We are incredibly honored to receive this award. This recognition means the world to our foundation and the mission we fight for every day. A heartfelt thank you to Joseph Porter for bringing our vision to life so beautifully. Having our documentary included in the Loveland Shorts Film Festival is an honor and an amazing way to further spread our message, and we are truly overwhelmed with gratitude for the opportunity to make an even greater impact.”
