Deadly fentanyl is being added to vaping liquid. Fentanyl is impossible to detect in a vape (or when mixed with any other drug), so users don’t know they’re inhaling it until it’s too late.

Need proof? On April 22, 2025, a student at Meridian High School in Indianapolis used what he thought was a THC-laced vape pen. Instead, the vape contained fentanyl, and he overdosed. School nurses and police saved his life by administering two doses of Narcan.

Perry Township Schools Superintendent Dr. Patrick Spray said, “This incident highlights the very real dangers associated with vaping, particularly as many of these vapes are being laced with dangerous and illicit substances. While we are relieved that this situation did not result in a tragedy, it is crucial that we work together to ensure the safety of all students.”
