Spectrum News Shares Our Message on National Fentanyl Awareness Day

Just in time for National Fentanyl Awareness Day, Spectrum News 1 has featured DOITFORJACK in a broadcast and on the station’s website. The story includes an interview with Tom and Stephanie Quehl about the tragedy of Jack’s death and the urgent need for fentanyl awareness education and also highlights scenes of them speaking at a local high school.

“At first we were scared because we thought that people wouldn’t really listen,” Tom told reporter Katie Kapusta, “But you can hear a pin drop when we talk.” Stephanie added, “We try to tell students you can be as smart as you want, as athletic as you want, and it doesn’t matter. You make the wrong choice, and you’re dead.”

Spectrum News echoed DOITFORJACK’s call for fentanyl awareness, noting that while deaths have decreased over the last several years, 132 people still die from fentanyl poisoning every day and noted that it’s in Ohio communities— enough fentanyl to kill 70 million people was seized in Dayton this fall.
